On this episode we have an Aussie fine artist / street artist who is based in Venice Beach, California. His art is featured internationally in cities including Melbourne, Sydney, London, San Fran, Paris, Tokyo, Hawaii, Mexico, L.A, and Hong Kong. This guy has some serious skills and talent. He’s most commonly recognised for his unique, expressive, and energetic style with references to pop-culture, the natural world, and socio-cultural issues. His technical use of colour and movement combines clean, bold, illustrative elements with textural, and free flowing design.

It is a very laid back conversation so get comfy.

The topics we talk about include:

• The power of consistently working and creating

• Combining learned skill-sets

• Embracing your uniqueness

• Being resourceful

• Constantly exploring and experimenting with new techniques and ideas

• Surrounding yourself with a group of like-minded people

• And his response to being asked to paint a 6,000 square foot outdoor mural in Detroit, USA.

Wonderful listeners, I present to you, David Hooke also known as “MEGGS”.

@disqus_dFDPFRuNib:disqus It’s my absolute pleasure my friend and thank you for writing. Feedback is important for the show to continue and to take on boar moving forward. ‘Meggs’ will be glad to hear about your kind words. If you could spare 30 seconds, I’d love a podcast review. Something short and relevant to your own listening experience and how it’s helping you (big or small) would be great. I would really appreciate that. I invite you to head to: http://www.itunes.com/podcast/giantthinkerspodcast – thanks again Chris 🙂

@ramcastillo:disqus thanks and no worries mate. I submitted a review on iTunes. I don’t know if you remember me, I’m the Canadian that messaged you a month ago about moving to Australia. I’m now settled in, in Melbourne and loving the different weather and friendly people. I grabbed your book and I’m exercising your techniques to find a design job. I’ve had some positive responses, but I’m still looking and moving forward.

G’day @disqus_dFDPFRuNib:disqus – I do remember our conversation! Congrats on the relocation mate. Very proud of you. Thank you for the iTunes review. Hopefully it’s up now! Also, I appreciate your support on the book. More importantly, I’m glad you’re excising the techniques in there. You must keep pushing as you said ‘moving forward’. Persist, persist, persist. With that, comes action. Keep planting seeds online and offline. Keep building rapport with people in the industry and ask for recommendations, referrals and their suggestions. More importantly (and here’s the secret)… give THEM value. Find ways where you can help them. That’s when you’ll get some serious breakthroughs. You rock dude. Keep crushing it. You’ll get there. Play the long game 🙂
